In March of 2018, Hennepin Healthcare (formerly known as Hennepin County Medical Center) opened its doors on a new clinic and specialty center building in Minneapolis, the biggest expansion in the history of the teaching hospital. The project consolidated more than 40 primary and specialty clinics that were previously spread across 9 buildings.
The Hennepin Healthcare Clinic & Specialty Center (HHCSC), formerly known as the AOSC, houses primary, specialty care, and physical and occupational therapy, a same day surgery center with seven operating rooms, and four GI/endoscopy rooms. The clinic is home to a cancer center with radiation therapy, an outpatient imaging center, including women’s imaging. Other specialties include Dentistry, Eye Clinic, and ENT Clinic.
Korbel Associates began in January 2015 doing an extensive equipment inventory of the existing campus. We held numerous rounds of planning meetings in conjunction with the design team over the following seven months with the clinical user groups and ancillary teams. Korbel facilitated high-level reviews with senior leadership to determine budget priorities for the project and strategize capital acquisitions. We provided 3D Revit model of equipment placements for the project design team.
Early in 2017, Korbel Associates was called back to the project for a second contract to perform procurement support services. This involved finalization of the equipment list with end users, gathering and analyzing quotes, and supporting the move planning team with room-by-room equipment lists.
