Augusta Health consolidated its disparately located heart and vascular services in a new integrated four-story center. The new Heart and Vascular Center provides all of the following services: Cardiac Rehabilitation, Pulmonology, Cardiology, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Stress Test, Echocardiography, Vascular Lab, Pacemaker Clinic, Holter Monitoring, Tilt Table, Nocturnal Pulse Oximetry, Heart Cath and Stents, Balloon Angioplasty, Nutrition Counseling, and Dietitians.
Korbel's service began with a complete inventory of the existing Heart and Vascular Center department elements, that were in various locations in the existing facility. We then conducted several rounds of user group meetings with all departments throughout the design phase. We developed equipment placement drawings and coordinated equipment planning information with the design team and contractors.
The $5.8 million equipment budget included items that were funded directly through the project as well as capital replacement equipment. Major equipment purchases included two new imaging systems for the cath labs and two SPECT/CT scanners for Nuclear Medicine.
Construction began in fall of 2011, and the new facility opened in March 2013.
