Highlights

CNMC embarked on a complete renovation of its entire operating room suite of 17 ORs. This suite dedicated rooms for a hybrid OR, a 3.0 Tesla MR, two ortho rooms, two CVORs, urology suite, two ENT rooms, and an ophthalmic room. The scope included two endoscopy procedure rooms, five induction rooms, frozen section, and a satellite pharmacy. There were nominally four overarching phases, but actual total of 15 separate sub-phases with schedule coordination.

Korbel’s role began in January 2009 with a complete inventory of equipment, followed by room-by-room planning and equipment placements. Korbel was awarded procurement scope for all areas of the project, and our planning system helped strategize relocation of equipment throughout the phases. Based on successful performance on this project (and four others with CNMC), Korbel’s scope was expanded to include assistance with purchase orders and warehouse coordination previously designated to other consultants.

Twelve of the ORs opened in 2010, one of which is pictured. Procurement is ongoing for project elements in the last phase, with five remaining operating rooms pending opening in 2012.
